An individual made nearly half a million dollars on the ouster of Nicolás Maduro just before it was publicly declared, raising questions about potential gains made from inside knowledge of American actions.
Wagers on Polymarket, a crypto-powered platform, that the leader would be removed from office by the month's conclusion increased in the hours before former President Trump declared on January 3rd that Maduro had been seized.
One account, which joined the platform recently and took four positions, all on political events in Venezuela, profited a total of $nearly half a million from a starting bet of $32,537.
